The libel trial between Andrew Mitchell MP, Toby Rowland and the Sun starts today

Today the libel action relating to Plebgate begins at the High Court in London.

See, for example, this report in the Guardian:
Multimillion pound Plebgate libel case comes to court

Had the case been heard with a jury my decision as to whether now was an appropriate time to begin this blog might have been different. However, as the Guardian reports, the case is to be heard without a jury.

The judge in this case is to be Mr. Justice Mitting.

I am confident that he would not allow himself to be influenced in any material way by anything I write on this blog, in the unlikely event that he chose to read it.

The issues of immediate concern to me relate to matters which, so far as I'm aware, are not the subject of the libel action.

For example, I am deeply concerned by the "corrupt relationship" that existed between Deborah Glass, then Deputy Chair of the Independent Police Complaints Commission, and the Metropolitan Police Service.

See
The "corrupt relationship" between Deborah Glass of the IPCC and the Metropolitan Police Service
for a very abbreviated account of some aspects of the "corrupt relationship".

Operation Alice is one of the investigations which I believe to have been tainted by the fact that Deborah Glass was under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Service for alleged perversion of the course of justice.

Ms Glass was under investigation regarding the perverting the course of justice allegations thoughout the period between the events of 19th September 2012 and the Crown Prosecution Service announcement of 26th November 2013.

Further, there is to my mind convincing evidence that the Crown Prosecution Service has concealed evidence of the "corrupt relationship" casting serious doubt as to the validity and integrity of the Crown Prosecution conclusions announced on 26th November 2013.
